VAMPIRES
FOUNDING MEMBERS: 1/2
Must feed on human/other supernatural blood to survive. Animal blood does nothing for a vampire. Cannot feed on another vampire. The younger the vampire is, the more often feeding is necessary. The blood of shifters is slightly warmer than humans, and tends to make vampires react differently. The blood of fae is far more rare for a vampire to feed on. A witch's blood tastes just a bit off.
Can put humans and most other supernaturals into a light sort of trance that helps while feeding. They can project images, feelings, and thoughts into the other's head while drinking their blood. Can erase short term memories. Vampires now usually ask permission before drinking from someone, so they don't end up dead. For non-supernatural races being fed on by a vampire who doesn't use their magics can produce a sort of obsession and they can become addicted to vampire feeding.
Fire & sunlight are weaknesses to vampires. Vampires are most vulnerable during the daytime when they can be found sleeping or dead. A coffin is not necessary to sleep in, and most would find it rather distasteful. Beheading is an instant death, as well is cutting out the heart.
To become a vampire, the victim must be completely drained of blood before being fed the vampires blood. It's not a guarantee of success, and most vampires don't want the responsibility of looking out for the new baby vampire and helping them not kill any potential food sources after awaking for the first few months after turning. The vampires usually split lives after six months to a year once the fledgling can manage to not rip someone's throat out. Turning anyone under the age of consent in any country carries a death penalty.
A vampire looks whatever age they were when turned, and look just like they did while a human. After their death the only things that cannot be easily healed and will likely scar over is any form of burns. Vampires and fae are the most vain of any supernatural species.
THE FAE aka FAIRIES/FAERIES
FOUNDING MEMBERS: 0/2
The vanity of a fae is legendary, second only to vampires. Most fae like to use some sort of glamour to hide any sort of perceived imperfection that would tag them as not human. Like tails, ears, or anything else that wouldhave marked them as anything but human. Some fae have stronger magic glamour than others and can make themselves appear as otherworldly beautiful or god/goddess like to humans. It's not illegal to use glamour to trick any one of your beauty.
Fae are paranoid of magic use outside of their own. Most have never used their given or true full names in centuries. Summoning magics are the most common uses for full names, despite being complex magic. Fae have been considered to possess the ability to summon even mere humans just using their full names after meeting them, but being caught doing so results in an automatic death sentence.
There are both light as well as dark fae. Light fae are usually things like sprites, pixies, brownies and anything else that could be considered as enjoying helping human kind. Dark fae are usually the things out of legends and mythos that warn humans to stay away such as bogies, banshees, and things that might be considered much darker.
Do not ever thank a fae. It's been long considered that thanking a fae means they can call in a debt, and usually it's something you won't care to part with or do. Most governments explicitly warn against this as well as warning not to eat any food or drink made by fae, least they become enthralled or under the thrall of a fae. Fae are the most regimented species of supernatural race, by the powers that be. Most fae tend to stay in one area for very lengthy periods of time, and traveling or moving requires approval from all governments involved. There is a fae registry usually with their current names and classified as light or dark. Rumors have it that the registry contains much more than that but it hasn't been revealed to the public, though some call for one.
Weaknesses for fae include any sort of metals as it drains their magics and can leave them permanently weakened. You find most fae on the outskirts of societies or living in buildings with the least amount of metals as possible. Trapping fae in fairy traps is possible and has a tendency to remove any glamours, so use at your own risk.
SHIFTERS
FOUNDING MEMBERS: 0/4
Shifters have two forms, their human and their animal form. Most shifters are predator sorts of animals, though a very few remain of small prey like animals. The most common shifter is wolf. Most groups of shifters stick together and form small societies of animal types, though there are always outliers of any species.
Vampires sometimes will recruit, barter, or in the past enslave a family of shifters to guard their homes and properties, sometimes passed down generation to generation, especially the very old vampires keep with this tradition.
Shifters, unlike their immortal supernatural breathren vampires and fae lead a double than average human lifespan. They are immune to human sickness as well as posses magical healing abilities for wounds that would be deadly for a human. They also have super human strength, senses, as well as reflexes thanks in part to their animal half. Some livestock and prey animals can sense when a shifter is near, even while in human form. It makes for difficult livestock farming.
Their shifting is not tied to phases of the moon and most can shift at will. Younger shifters may have to sleep off a quick change between forms, but the older shifters can usually rebound without any sort of mood change or tiredness with a good meal. Shifters all have an above average metabolism and are the type of people who can put away large amounts of food without blinking.
Can allow a vampire to feed from them, and their blood runs hotter than a normal human. Various shifter's blood can cause different sorts of reaction in vampires. Those most vampires claim their blood is just more potent and they can take less blood from a shifter than a human to survive. Large doses of shifter blood can turn a vampire punch drunk.
Shifters are both born and made. Born shifters can consider themselves "better" than a made shifter, but they both posses the same amounts of magic. To turn into a shifter it takes multiple bites/scratches from the same animal ONLY while in animal form over three different months. It's violent and most people wouldn't choose to become a shifter. Shifting in itself can be considered painful, and slightly disorienting just after while they reorient both ways.
WITCHES
FOUNDING MEMBERS: 0/4
The most "human" of the supernatural species, witches are humans that are born with higher than average magical skill. You can also barter with a fae or demon for magical skills but most of those contracts are nothing anyone would come out winning with.
Have a immunity to most common illnesses, and can cast spells to heal any wounds. The bigger the spell, the higher amount of magic that is required. There are both dark and light magics, and as always a grey area in between. Blood magic is considered the highest form of magic outside of human sacrifice, which is an automatic death sentence. Other supernatural beings hair & blood can be used in blood magics as a powerful ingredient.
Witches can extend their lifetime at a price or by performing powerful blood magic. But most would consider the price of pieces of themselves as too high, and thus lead normal human life spans. Demonic possession can also extend a witches life time, though their natural magic afterward is harshly depleted.
Most witches have a family journal passed down through generations containing spells, runes, and other forms of magics. Each family may have a different sort of ritual that they use when getting ready to perform any sort of magic.
Minor magics such as potions and some protection runes are can be sold by a witch for income. Higher and more powerful magics cost more energy and thus can be very expensive. Witches are the few magical beings that can see through fae glamour without help of a focusing crystal or talisman.
Witches can summon almost anything or anyone using their true names, including talking to the dead if so desired. It's not an easy magic, and it's one that only most perform with a wide variety of protections from things that may be lurking on the other side of the veil.
HUMANS
They may be merely mortal with all the normal sorts of ailments that harms and hurts humankind, but there are various varietys of the run of the mill type of human that have more supernatural than others might.
DEMONIC POSSESSION: It's possible for a human to be possessed by a demonic being. Usually by invited the being into their bodies themelves, by being tricked into it, or by a wayward spirit released by a witch from the other realm. The only caveat is that a person prior to possession is more than likely to have not been a great person to begin with.
ANGELIC POSSESSION: Is the same as demoic possession, except prior to possession these people were likely to be viewed as almost saintly and usually very religious. Most are from the Christian and/or Catholic religious background, but it's been known for angelic beings from other religions to possess devout followers.
HUNTERS/SLAYERS: These hunters usually have a family history of some sort of supernatural violence in them, be it to themselves or someone generations prior. Most of the families have journals or books like many witches. They don't possess any other worldly skills aside from what they've been taught or built after years of fighting the rogue supernaturals. Now that supernaturals are out to the rest of the world and their is a bigger governing body most of them may have transfered to the government agencies since they view supernaturals cannot be trusted to keep themselves in check.
